Letter from a US socialist

Comrades,

I would like to share this with you. The daily bits of news and actions on the many political fronts has become a whirlwind of activity that is hard to process and keep track of. We have definitely entered new territory in late stage capitalism in the US.

Almost every part of society has now been claimed by right wing ideologues. The government, courts, law enforcement, the media, sports, and now jobs.

In a time when the wealth disparity in the US is at a level never before seen in history, we have immigrants being kidnapped, citizens being fired or investigated by a surveillance government, poor people dying of preventable disease, seniors joining the ranks of homeless populations on the streets struggling with poverty, addiction, violence, and mental illness. How can this continue?

I sent a text message earlier and I wanted to include that here… It is in reference to spreading an alternative far and wide through an article on the [Facts for Working People] blog.

80,000 views this month… we need a piece posted about this hard right shift…. that [Charlie Kirk] assassination could be this country’s burning of the Reichstag. Corporate media and studios and some former A-list actors have already been pushing this bullshit. Who in the entertainment industry is going to stand up? Workers are going to eventually be on the chopping block… allegiance or unemployment…”

I will never claim to know what will happen next, but the patterns linked to some very violent and necessary struggles of our working class history are starting to emerge, or become more obvious and out in the open. This is much bigger than any single person, and I believe the line was drawn a long time ago. The last few months have merely unmasked the reality of who truly runs this country and who they will be relying on to stay in power.

Where is the labor union leadership? Who is offering an alternative other than voting blue in 2026?

In solidarity,

US socialist
